MONTREAL BEAT ST. LOUIS 3-0

ST. LOUIS, MO (July 21, 2010) – AC St. Louis, playing in the USSF Division 2 Pro League, lost to the Montreal Impact 3-0 on Wednesday night in Montreal, Quebec.

Reda Agourram opened the scoring for Montreal midway through the first half. Agourram took a pass from Philippe Billy and turned to attack his defender. Agourram then pulled the trigger on a tight angle shot that whistled past Alec Dufty. The goal came on the first quality chance Montreal had generated, and ended a spell of watertight St. Louis defending.

Montreal wasn’t done scoring. Minutes later Simon Gatti forced a turnover in midfield and dribbled to the outside of the penalty area where he crossed in from the left to find an unmarked Tony Donatelli. Donatelli headed the shot home from just outside the six-yard box for an easy goal and a quick 2-0 Montreal lead.

St. Louis tempers boiled over in the second half when Filipe Soares and Gauchinho got into an altercation that resulted in both players being ejected. The dual red cards opened up the field some as both teams were forced to play out the match with 10 men. More yellow cards followed, as Montreal and St. Louis – Jack Traynor – were each booked for jersey tugs moments later.

Montreal substitute Antonio Riberio killed off the match with a late goal coming off an Eduardo Sebrango assist.
The goal gave Montreal a 3-0 lead, and echoed what St. Louis had been able to do to them a week and a half ago. AC St. Louis’ record now stands at 3-10-4 after 17 league matches.

AC St. Louis will conclude their road trip this in Baltimore on Saturday night. AC St. Louis next returns home on Saturday July 28 match against the Portland Timbers. Tickets are still available and can be obtained by calling 1-888-STL-GOAL, or by visiting www.ac-stlouis.com.
